Apt Steve Jobs Tribute & Inspiration



Of all the tributes to mark Steve Jobs' passing, I thought this came nearest to matching his own apt sense of design. It was posted by a young Hong Kong designer called Johnathon Mak Long.

And Barack Obama's observation: "there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented."

Jobs has a great lesson for us in the publicity field: when asked about the market research that went into the iPad: "None. It's not the consumers' job to know what they want."
"You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new."
Or as Henry Ford put it - "If I'd asked people what they wanted they'd have said a faster horse".

Great advice from someone with clear vision.

Jobs' told us how he developed that vision when he heard that quote: ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.’ He said, "It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” – Steve Jobs
